To fly has always be a part of Loïc's life. He seems to be shaped for flying !
His parents are skydivers. He has spend his childhood at the Reunion Island (Indian Ocean) drop zone, observing and playing, as if he was already a skydiver. As he was to young to go in the airplane, he plays and begins to manufacture small canopies and he asks skydivers to please help fly them.He flies them close to the hangar to test their performance.
When he's 7 years old, Loïc practise sailing activities with his brothers. He starts with an Optimist boat and progresses to a 420. He learns to "read" the wind and to use this fluid element to win boat races. He learns to sew sails and sailing equipment, as they often need to be repaired after training.
Loïc starts to jump in 1994 and become a team member of the 8 way Relative Work French National Team. At this stage he is only 18 years old and has only 350 jumps.Responsible for the national teams equipment maintenance, he spends a big part of his free time sewing, he tests his inventions and modifications in the sky. He also starts to discover all the dimensions of free-flying while falling through the skies. He is introduced to Base-Jump by Claude Remide.
In Gap, Loïc meets Patrick De Gayardon while he's working on his first wingsuit. They spend a lot of time together and become friends with a real mutual respect for each other. They exchange their ideas, their feelings... both of them like to create and innovate, simply for the pleasure of flight! When Patrick dies in 1998, Loïc decides to pursue wingsuit development and to test more possibilities. He creates a "wing" which gives completely new flight possibilities.
At the same time, Loïc and his team-mates of the 8 way RW team achieve a brillant amount of success. In 2000, he joins up with Babylon, the first French free-fly National Team, and they win the World Cup in Eloy.
At the end of 2001, Loïc decides to focus on wingsuit development. He meets people from the french company Salomon. They start an interesting collaboration, with lots of exchange and many projects.
In 2002, he registers his wingsuit model with the international authorities and study how to begin manufacture and retaiingl the wingsuits. He creates fly your body in 2003 with Stéphane Zunino and Cathy Pichon. He becomes the company manager.
He creates the « Soul Flyers » team and they capture amazing footage in wonderful landscapes.
In april 2004, he's elected "Skydiver of the Year" by the american "Skydiving Magazine". His legendary wingsuit flights over Verbier are world wellknown (see "Loïc JEAN-ALBERT on youtube.com).
He becomes a Red Bull team member and they capture some extreme footage. He's also participates at the "Red Bull Air Race" doing wingsuit demonstrations.
At the same time, he becomes a certified airplane pilot and learns basic acrobatic flight and para-dropping. To date he has accumulated more than 750 flight hours.
So if you want to see Loïc, look skywards !
